Everything changes. When your applications change, or you need to upgrade, how can you be sure to choose the appropriate hardware for the new world?
Sometimes new features add unexpected overheads causing a well managed system to start running slow. Other times the new features allow you to drastically improve the performance of your servers.
Dalleon Systems has a methodology that will help you reduce the risk of poor performance after an upgrade. The CHANGE YOUR SERVER study will investigate the way your servers work, where the workloads come from and how your planned changes will affect the system in the future.
Our analysis will profile the work that is running on your server. We log how it changes over time, for example when your daily peaks are and what components are active at each time. Using a performance model derived form this information and the run-time attributes of each component we will show you what aspects of your server will alter after you make changes.
To do this, we work on your site to profile the server workload using our dedicated monitoring systems. This information is fed into a performance model of your server, which we can then use to simulate the effect of your planned changes.
In some cases, the effects of a change are not known. Here we will help you run tests of your changes to calculate what will happen when they are introduced to your live workloads. Where it is not practical to run the full suite of live software, or where it cannot be run in the same volume as in the live environment, the performance model will assist in estimating how the test performance will scale for the live environment.
Finally, where the analysis estimates that your current servers will be unable to service the new workloads, we will research the possibilities for system upgrades that will meet your new requirements in a cost-efficient way. We can also assist you in validating the new system and following up the system performance after the upgrade has been implemented.
